Detailed Technical Requirements for Transformer Copper Strip:
1. Material :
– Comply with international or industry standards and have excellent electrical conductivity and mechanical properties.
– Made of oxygen-free electrolytic copper material, with an oxygen content of less than 0.02% and a purity of 99.95% or higher.
2. Dimensional Dimensional :
– The width, thickness, and length of the transformer copper strip should be determined based on specific design specifications, usually produced using standard dimensions.
– The width and thickness of the copper strip should meet the thermal load and current density requirements at the rated current.
3. Dimensional Surface :
– The surface of the copper foil should be smooth and free from defects such as cracks, porosity, and blemishes.

In the power system, transformer is one of the key equipments, and its performance directly affects the stability and reliability of the power system. As the main component of the transformer, the quality of copper tape has an important impact on the performance of the transformer.
In order to ensure the normal operation of the transformer, the copper tape must be strictly tested. China’s national standard GB/T18813-2014 is an important standard for transformer copper tape testing.
According to the provisions of national standard GB/T 18813-2014, the detection of transformer copper tape mainly includes the following aspects:
Appearance inspection: check whether the surface of the copper strip is smooth, without cracks, bubbles, inclusions and other defects. At the same time, check whether the colour of the copper strip is normal, without obvious oxidation, oil and other phenomena.
Size check: check whether the thickness, width, length and other dimensions of the copper strip meet the design requirements. The deviation of the dimensions should be controlled within the permissible range.
Tensile strength and elongation check: carry out tensile test on the copper strip to determine its tensile strength and elongation. Tensile strength refers to the copper belt in the tensile state can withstand the large tensile force, elongation refers to the copper belt in the tensile process of the degree of elongation at the time of rupture. These two indicators are important parameters to measure the mechanical properties of copper strip.
Hardness check: check whether the hardness of the copper strip meets the requirements. Hardness is mainly measured by Brinell hardness tester, hardness is too high or too low will affect the performance of copper tape.
Conductivity check: conductivity test on the copper strip to ensure that its conductivity to meet the design requirements. Conductivity is an important indicator of the electrical properties of copper tape.
Corrosion Resistance Check: Corrosion resistance test on copper tape to ensure that it can maintain good performance in harsh environments.
